12 Improvements to the invisible letter

When discussing the invisible letter, which is written in white vinegar and then heated up to reveal its shape, we discussed how to show the process to the audience. After careful consideration, I decided that a video would be very difficult to shoot, and that it would be difficult to achieve the desired effect in terms of location and equipment.

Also the effect from the heating is difficult to control and there have been previous comments that it is difficult to read what is written. And that it would not be interesting enough for graphic design. So I was looking for other ways to make an invisible letter.

I came across this method of writing with white crayon and then painting it all over with watercolor paint to see the crayon writing. But this method, like heating with fire, requires the documentation and representation of a process of manifestation. And these processes are irreversible; there is no way to hide the words again once they have been made visible.

There is also this, using a glue gun to write letters, which presents the visual effect of a three-dimensional, transparent character. This is a nice visual effect, but it is difficult to think that this is a secret letter and requires more words to explain.

The original method of writing with white vinegar. The method of heating with fire reminded me of some detective novels I read as a child, where this method was sometimes used to find clues. So I was reminded of the methods used by some detectives, such as using a pencil to scribble on the next page of a diary if you wanted to see what had been written on the torn page.

And this method of using a red translucent card to see the blue writing.

I found this to be a good way of making the words visible in a way that the viewer can directly participate in the process. And it has a nice visual effect too.

So I went looking for materials to experiment with. I also experimented with different textures to cover the lettering. After experimenting I determined that the blue lettering worked best and that the red messy lines should not be too dark or they would also affect the clarity of the content.
